During the frosty month of July, the heart of the city becomes a spectacular ice arena know as Skate in the City. 12,000 litres of frozen water transforms Garema Place into an open air ice skating rink.
With up to six skating sessions a day and a capacity for over 200 skaters, everyone can enjoy the thrill of open air skating day and night. When you need a break from skating, grab your favourite hot beverage from a nearby cafe then sit back and be entertained by fashion parades on ice and ice shows. Enjoy a themed movie on the big screen.
A dedicated area is set aside for children under six and penguin skating aids are available for people who haven't quite found their skater's feet yet.
Garema place is in easy walking distance from the Civic bus interchange and just across the road from the Bunda Street multi-story car park.
